The presence of a research key provides users with a broader range of customizable parameters and allows a wider variety of input datasets, and also displays clear labeling that the research application is not intended for clinical usage both on the user interface and in the LSN report. The LSN application is designed to work only when a valid license key for clinical usage is installed on the Mac workstation. The LSN plug-in is designed to work according to OsiriX's published Application Programming Interface (API), which allows reliable integration of specialized algorithms from external parties, thereby extending the breadth of capabilities available to their users with the look/feel of a single application and user interface. It is not designed to be used as a stand-alone application by clinical end users and relies on OsiriX to provide support for DICOM communications, image display, and other relevant measurement and image processing tools for the users' analysis of the images and clinical decision-making. LSN is designed to support deployment as a plug-in to FDA-cleared versions of OsiriX, a medical image visualization and processing platform that runs on MacOS and standard computing hardware, providing users of these platforms with specialized measurement tools for assessing liver morphology as depicted on CT images. Safety and effectiveness in acute liver disease has not been established. LSN is intended to be used as an adjunct to other clinical data important in chronic liver disease including overall CT imaging interpretation, other imaging studies, patient history, results of serum testing, etc. The information provided by LSN should not be used in isolation when making patient management decisions. A final report may be generated with a summary of measurement results for archiving and communication with other clinicians involved in the patient's care. Intermediate results of the analysis are displayed for user review and acceptance, and an overall LSN Score is provided for the study. LSN provides custom workflows, UI, and reporting functions for liver surface nodularity analysis including image segmentation algorithms and metrics calculations for user-defined ROIs. It is the user's responsibility to be aware of the limitations of liver CT imaging and therefore of any quantitative metrics derived from the images. LSN accepts contrast-enhanced or non-contrast computed tomographic (CT) images and produces quantitative measures related to liver surface nodularity based on user-defined Regions of Interest (ROIs).Īs with any medical imaging post-processing application, only qualified healthcare professionals should use this application. LSN (Liver Surface Nodularity) is medical imaging software that provides tools to aid trained healthcare professionals, including physicians and radiologists, for interpreting, reporting, and treatment planning in chronic liver disease.
